Introduction Ted Bundy, “Killer Clown” John Wayne Gacy and “Ken and Barbie Killers” Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka are all names that are associated with the word “evil”. These people and people like them have been interviewed, studied, poked, and prodded in an attempt to find out what made them who they are and why. The more important study is how to detect evil that may be inside a person and prevent the actions that will follow if the condition is ignored and goes untreated. A psychopath is person with an antisocial personality disorder, manifested in aggressive, perverted, criminal, or amoral behavior without empathy or remorse. Psychopaths tend to lack normal human emotions such as guilt. They are also often highly intelligent and skilled at manipulating others. Also, psychopaths may appear to be normal. Ted Bundy would be an excellent example of a psychopath because he was well educated and used his normal appearance to lure his victims. A disease is any disturbance or anomaly in the normal functioning of the body that probably has a specific cause and identifiable symptoms. Psychopathy has a likely genetic cause. It has a clear set of symptoms. The results of brain imaging studies suggest that it is an anomaly of empathy and emotion which are in turn functions of the brain. It would therefore appear to meet the definition of disease. Doctors and scientist treat the disease with psychoanalysis, group therapy, client-centred therapy, psychodrama, psychosurgery, electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) or drug therapy.
