In the story, "The Things They Carried" the details actually make the story. This story tells about a military man that carries a picture with him. Having that picture of a loved one causes him to make different decisions than someone that wasn't carrying a picture of a loved one. This story has all parts required to be called a story. It has a beginning, it rising in action to climax and then it falls to an ending. It talks about all the different things a military person would carry with them, why they carry it, or hump it.
