Benchmark C Response Parent’s want everything for their child. They would do anything to protect them. I believe that’s why parents make rules and limits for almost everything. One really big topic that should concern a parent and make rules for their child when they start dating as a teen. Should parents even have rules for dating? Should parents just let their child go out on dates and do whatever the heck they want with their partner? High school’s a different experience than middle school. From my experience, having a boyfriend/girlfriend is a responsibility. I believe that parents should make a rule for their child to try to not have a boyfriend for at least the first year of high school. They should first get to know how high school is and works before trying to date, because if you can’t handle high school for the first year, it will only get tougher for you. Then on top of that, having the responsibility of having a romantic companion is another thing to worry about. So if the parent’s child is struggling with school by itself, then dating should not be a thought to have in mind. But if the adolescent is doing well and is being allowed to date then rules should be applied. Going out with their romantic companion is an existence a parent should really keep in mind. They should let their juvenile go out, but with the exception of the place being in public in the daytime, no late night partying with their companion. In conclusion I really do believe that parents should be able to let their child date, with rules. Parents should make rules that are reasonable and works for both sides so that the adolescent will be able to understand these rules and follow them. So the parent may also be able to trust their child to go out with a romantic
