Research Problem Disney Channel’s The Proud Family (or TPF for the duration of this paper), is an animated show about a middle class African American family that focuses mainly on fourteen-year old Penny Proud. Her family includes her father Oscar, mother Trudy, grandmother Suga Mama and baby siblings BeBe and CeCe. These characters all live under the same roof. The Bravermans are a blended California family who face a series of both fortunate and unfortunate events but together find a way to get by (Katims, 2010). Television consumers have been introduced to many fictional families overtime and continue to fall in love with family related television shows. Historically, the media has transformed and continues to adapt to the changes in present day family types. “Writers often take seeds from real life experiences and plant then in their scripts,” consumers both consciously or subconsciously attend to cues on television and want to apply what they see to their lives.
They insist that things are worse behind the scenes (Schumann). A show that is popular for young people and their babies is a great example for reality shows revolving around children. Teen Mom is a show all about young girls getting pregnant as teenagers. Many of the girls are between the ages of 16 and 18, so they are still children themselves. This show involves a ton of drama, not only because it involves screaming and crying babies, but also because the fathers are rarely there.
Many social issues are portrayed in television shows because they are common in every society so it makes it easy to relate to the audience. One show in particular that has many social issues that are demonstrated perfectly to the audience is a Netflix original show called “Shameless.” This is a show that focuses on a single family in which the father, Frank, is a deadbeat drunk who is never reliable. The mother, Monica, abandoned the family a year or so after she had the last child, she is mentally bipolar. She shows up occasionally throughout the series, but for the most part is in some unknown place to the audience.

Throughout the movie, Parenthood, the three main parenting styles were displayed throughout as, the dictator, permissive, and democratic. The dictator form of parenting, also known as the authoritarian parent sets strict rules and guidelines and will not changing them or give any leeway. Children that have authoritarian parents usually have low self-esteem and trouble to do things on their own when they get older. Then there is the permissive parent, who rather than setting rules and guidelines, opts out of this, their discipline is not seen and if they do set rules, they don 't punish when the rules are broken. There is also a balance of good parenting seen in the democratic form.

The Office is an American television comedy series that aired on NBC from 2005 to 2013. It is an adaptation of a British series also titled The Office. The series depicts the everyday work lives of office employees that work for a paper company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The show is portrayed as a documentary by having a camera crew follow the employees throughout the series to show the viewers the lives of American office workers.
