As if parents did not have enough reasons to worry about their teenage children, what with drugs, drinking, and driving, now a new concern has appeared about teen suicide. A national survey in 1997 showed that an estimated 700,000 American high school students annually who attempt to kill themselves, and millions say they have contemplated doing so, and now the rates have increased massively. Mostly, teenagers are the ones committing suicide these days. A new study presented at the Pediatric Academic Societies Meeting in May, found that the number of children and teens admitted to children's hospitals for thoughts of suicide or self-harm have more than doubled during the last decade. It is very shocking that this great number of teens find it necessary to take their own lives. Some of the more common reasons seem to come from pressures in high school, problems with parents, problems with relationships, and increasingly drug or alcohol related problems.

Suicide rarely happens without warning. We may see signs in person, hear about them secondhand, or see them online in social media. We should Never ignore these signs. It is important to learn these warning signs and what to do if you see any them in someone we know.We should let the person know we are concerned and focus on getting them proper mental health treatment.
