A major controversial issue that has been occurring throughout the decades amidst adolescents, has been Obesity. Since unhealthy lifestyles have possessed the majority of today’s teenagers, in most cases, teens do not know that what they consume can affect them in abounding ways. This matter has been a dominant problem among my peers because teenage Obesity has several physical and even social consequences of being overweight. Not only has Obesity affected teens physically and mentally, but emotionally as well. This emotional affliction experienced by overweight teens is open to doubt and the unhealthy habits will lead them towards a life of severe health disorders, ranging from diabetes to cardiovascular diseases. Since I have put this controversial issue into view, teens and adults should open their eyes and realize how what they consume can impact their lives in so many ways. In most cases, depression is one and can disturb teenagers and their lifestyles intensely. According to Megan from Reuters, “People who are obese are at increased risk of becoming depressed, and people who are depressed are at increased risk of becoming obese” (Brooks). One of the most painful aspects are obese teenagers having to go through abuse or bullying and are constantly being put in an image that they do not belong. Many people are unaware of all the risks accustomed with obesity and must be educated as to why they should move forward in the fight against this issue.
