Social media undoubtedly makes teens more social by allowing them to feel more confident and outgoing. A lonely and shy teen can access social media and speak to people online because it’s easier to speak with people online rather than in person. A teen that is always made fun of for the way they look can post a picture online and receive nothing but positive comments. This leads to teens feeling more confident and outgoing. Teens become more confident about themselves with the help of social media. One in five teens state that social media makes them feel more confident, according to a report made by “Common Sense Media.” This proves that social media allows teens to get away from the insecure person they are and become self-assured due to social media.
