Since the television first arrived in Australia in 1956, it has changed many different aspects of the residents of Australia. The first major change that the television brought was for the youth of generation X, the youth of this generation was the first group to have access and be influenced by the television. Generation X was born between 1965 and 1979 this estimates to 4.4 million Australians equalling to 21% of the population.
