First and foremost, I would like to express my eternal gratitude to Temple University for providing me with a solid foundation that has served me well over the last ten years. The accomplished instructors I have studied under and countless amazing students I interacted with continue to influence me in a positive manner. My career goals when I started as a freshman at Temple were to dance with a professional company, choreograph dance pieces, and to open a dance studio. I have always been ambitious about promoting the art of dance, and one of my major goals in college was to open a dance studio of my own. Throughout my college experience I worked on developing my art and acquiring knowledge of the inside workings of the dance industry. Thus, my first career move was to join a dance company that not only performed throughout the U.S., but also conducted international tours. The exposure to different cultures improved my creative potential and encouraged me to develop new dance styles as a choreographer and as a dancer. Temple provided me with the opportunities to explore different genres, and the balance between theory and performance taught me to appreciate dance history and its relationship to society. Temple prepared me for my opportunity to choreograph by improving my understanding of movement and how a group moves together. The positive responses of others to my dance creations had exceeded all of my expectations and were instrumental in convincing me it was time to make life changing decisions.
