Sorrowing Suppression by Lily Staton
It had been 400 long years of enslavement in Egypt. Miserable 400 years. Excruciating 400 years. Israelites had prayed for a miracle sent from the Lord. Their miracle was Moses, a prophet of Yahweh. God called him from the burning bush, instructing him to go to Egypt and lead the Israelites out of slavery.
Lavi, a brick builder, awoke one hot morning in Egypt, dreading the day. He was a tall, skinny, muscular man with dark, dirty hair and brown eyes. Lavi was enslaved by Pharaoh; however, he had hope and faith in God that he would save them. Naomi believed that the Lord sent her signs of the ten terrors. For three days, she prayed and prayed for salvation and freedom; on the third day, she decided to share her thoughts with Lavi.
The following day Naomi approached him, “Lavi, I feel as if our Lord has sent me signs of a rescuer coming, a sign of ten terrors.”
“What do you mean by “ten terrors” what are you referring to,” Lavi said in a confusing tone.
“I am speaking about ten horrible things that will bring great suffering and doom to Pharoh and his followers.”
“Naomi, if you are certain about these signs, we must tell the others,” Lavi said, directing his attention to the Pharoh soldier approaching them.
“Hey, you there, no fraternizing,” the soldier barked.
Naomi and Lavi went back to their assigned jobs. Later that evening, Lavi whispered to Naomi, “We must start spreading the great news soon.” Then, before Naomi went to sleep, she prayed one last time, “Lord, give me a sign that I should not share the news of a rescuer.”

The second plague was frogs. Everywhere. Frogs. Lavi began to restore his faith in the Lord; he found the frogs quite comical. All the Israelites saw it to be funny at first.
