The advancements in technology have helped researchers to collected data about our society and world, helping us create the most efficient ways we can live. Some say the pollution that we cause in cars has become a major problem worldwide. They also say that the pollution we cause from travel in cars is killing the planet quite literally. According to a survey, more than 90% of people would travel 300-500 miles in a car rather than a plane. This shows that generally people use cars more than any other type of transportation which increases the necessity to make cars environmentally friendly cars like the Tesla Model S. Some say transporting in a gas vehicle causes 75% of the pollution we have on earth. Scientifically, the Tesla Model S only produce 1% of the pollution the cleanest gas car makes, and 98% less Hydrocarbons than gas cars. The release of Nitrogen Dioxide in the environment influences lung cancer, and the Model S produce 89% less Nitrogen Dioxide than a gasoline car. The greenhouse effect (also known as global warming) is directly affected by the pollutants our gas cars make. “This air pollution carries significant risks for human health and the environment.” (Kranti Mulik). For example, If you drive your gasoline car about 15,000 miles per year, spend about $3.00 a gallon and get an average 25 miles per gallon, you can spend about $3,250 on gas annually. Tesla drivers will save that money, but their electric bill will increase from charging their car overnight. Tesla estimates that driving 15,000 miles per year will cost a driver an extra $602 in electricity, so deduct that from the gas savings. So the net saving is over $2,648 per year. However, there are other advantages that are not included in the operation of a Tesla Model S. Tesla has over 3,600 superchargers and over 15,000 destination chargers distributed throughout the United States. This can significantly reduces the operational cost of the car where it can be operated for free. It's not unusual to see business and mall providing charging station for their customers and employees. The cost of electricity could be free by just charging the car while you go to work or shopping. Assuming your are a business person and you get a Toyota Avalon. The Toyota Avalon cost about $44,000 dollars with some sort of the same luxury and performance, and the on the other hand the Tesla Model S is $56,000 with federal and California tax rebate given to buyers for environmentally vehicles.
