Pecha Kucha Speech
Purpose: To inform the audience about Texas A&M Traditions
Introduction
I. Howdy, my name is Samantha Weimar and I am the loudest, the proudest, member of the fighting Texas Aggie Class of 2019!
A. As you may notice by now, I attend Texas A&M and that is a typical attention-getter you may get during a presentation on campus.
B. Hopefully by the end of this presentation you may be convinced to transfer.
II. Texas A&M is rooted with rich traditions that continue to be preserve and promoted today by the traditions council. The council, “has been dedicated to preserving and promoting the traditions of Texas A&M University through education and awareness”(Traditions) A. As described by my friend Robert, a member of the corps for 2 years, “the corps is a military organization for students that helps build leaders in both the military and corporate sector”
IV. Reveille, our school mascot, but more importantly the First Lady of Aggieland A. She is the highest ranking member of the corps of cadets
B. She has a handler, a sophomore in company E-2 of the corps, who takes her everywhere he goes and also to her major events
C. Fun fact: If Reveille is in your class and she barks, class is dismissed
V. An all-time favorite, our yell leaders A. Yell leaders are an elected group of five students, 3 seniors and 2 juniors B. They use hand signals (like this) called pass backs to signal the start of a yell 1. They are stationed around the arena and synchronize every yell C. They are at almost all sporting events and major school events
VI. This is not a thumbs up to us aggies A. This right here represents a “Gig’em” and is the go-to pose for any picture
B. This famous sign originated when A&M was playing TCU, someone asked “what are we going to do about these frogs?” and someone replied “let’s gig’em” and signaled the thumbs up 1. Gigging is a strategy used to hunt
