Texas Declaration of Independence were wrote in March 2, 1836. There are four authors of Texas DOI, appointed by the president of the Tejas, Richard Ellis. The main author, George Childress, was born on January 8, 1804, at Nashville, Tennessee, and graduated from Davidson Academy, the modern University of Nashville, in 1826. He married Margaret Vance on June 12, 1826. After, he began to practice law between September 1834 - November 1835. He came to Texas on December 1834 to organize Robertson's colony for his uncle, Sterling C. Robertson. He was the person who called the convention to draft the Texas DOI at the Convention of 1836. Texas DOI, of course, was used to declare Texas' Independence from Mexico. The Texas DOI gives many effects to Texas, positive and negative effects. One of the positive effect is Texas became a Independent Nation. This allows Texas to have the ultimate authority to their own lands. One of the negative effect is debt that Texas used in the wars against Mexico. This caused the United States to basically “owned” Texas, and this is also why Texas joined the U.S. when U.S. Had its statehood. The reason of author to take the “action” doesn't seem reasonable because they knew that they would have to follow the Mexican rules.
