History and Evolution of Political Parties in Texas
The historical backdrop of political parties in Texas is the story of changing political regimes. It depicts a century-long stretch after a decade of post-civil war reconstruction run by Republicans came to be ousted by the Democratic Party (Black 1013). Similarly, how that "political framework" steadily began to crumble during the post-civil rights period, to be replaced by a dynamic system ruled by the Republicans. The history explicitly explains the evolution of the parties. From the Democratic Party dominance followed by Republican intermission then Democrats era again and finally a Republican rebirth.
