As a teen driver who only recently acquired my license, it is extremely nerve-racking to see individuals actively viewing their phone while driving. It is frightening to eye someone texting, dialing a number, surfing the web, or even viewing a video and watching that driver swerve and glide to another lane accidently because they are trying to focus on the road ahead while also focusing on their phone. There are nearly 330,000 severe injuries from accidents caused by texting and driving and about 3,000 deaths. Driving is a dangerous task to take on every day. Vehicles have the power to kill if the driver is not cautious and careful with the lives of numerous people on their hands. Recently, my family went on a road trip, and we urgently needed to find directions to get to the designated place. My family normally uses Google Maps, but that day, there seemed to be a glitch on Google Maps. I, then, searched for an alternate app that would give us precise directions. I finally found this app called “Waze”. We were actively on the road driving when I attempted to type in the directions to our destination using this app. …show more content…

Therefore, it is more than possible to install a sensor in all cars. The sensor will detect if someone is using their phone while the vehicle is in motion. This advancement will still allow drivers to use their phones while on-the-go in their vehicle but not when the vehicle is in motion. The driver’s phone can be viewed at a stop light while cautiously checking to see if the light turned green and can be used even in seriously congested traffic. Similar to the Waze app, the feature will not completely ban phones in vehicles, but it will even allow you to hand the phone over to the passenger to use.
