Typically when you think about a movie as whimsical as Clueless the first thought that comes to mind is how hilarious or romantic, not how insightful. If you take a deeper look into the notorious film you can soon realize the main character, Cher, went through Perry's epistemic cognition reflective journey, Erik Erikson's concept of identity vs. role confusion, and Piaget’s theory of cognitive development. Cher evolved the way her thought process worked and by the end of the movie showed signs of a bright prominent future. When people are in high school they often fall under a lot of peer pressure because they want to make sure they stay cool and keep up their reputation. Cher and her friends were the popular kids at their school, but when it came down to the wire she realized that her feelings and the way she thought was more important than trying to please everyone else who didn't give two thoughts about her when a new cooler person came in the picture. Erikson's role versus identity explained how Cher needed to actually take that time for herself to reflect on what she was missing or doing wrong and came back with a fixed mentality. She soon realized that independence is key, but with a healthy thought process and self care you can build stronger healthier relationships (Knight). Erikson's process is eight steps long but along each step of the way you should be able to find a silver lining at the end of it or learn a lesson that comes from it. Logic is essentially the study of correct reasoning. All of the concepts discussed in the paper do a great job of explaining how your overall thought process does not reach full achievement until later years in life after you know how to properly navigate intricate thoughts and decipher what's morally acceptable and not. It's important to not compare what stage of life you are going through compared to the peers around you because growth and change depends on the environment you place yourself in. Clueless will continue to be a timeless movie that causes contagious laughs, but it serves a greater purpose than that. When you use unexpected resources, such as movies, to broaden your perspective you realize that there is learning and growth able to be done in more places than a classroom.
