Greek mythology is about Greek god and goddesses and how things came to be. There were 12 main gods that lived on Mount Olympus. They were all worshiped by the mortals in Greece. Each god and goddess shared human emotions. They all told their own story and lived their own life. Thanatos was a minor god. He had a simple genealogy, he wasn’t that well know, and he was rarely in myths. Thanatos was an interesting god but, he didn’t have that much information. Thanatos had a very simple genealogy. Thanatos had several siblings but, two of them were Hypnos and Apate. Hypnos, was the god of sleep and he is Thanatos's is twin brother. Hypnos and Thanatos completed most of their missions together. Apate, is the goddess of trickery and mischief. Thanatos's parents were Erebus and Nyx. Erebus, was the god of darkness. Nyx, was the goddess of night. Thanatos never had a wife. One reason was because he was creepy. He always wore a robe and ever saw his face. Another reason is that he was rarely seen. Since he was in the underworld. Thanatos was the god of death. He is known for collaborating with the fates so he could find out when people will die. Once he figured that out he would retrieve the body of those people. Then he would bring those bodies to Hades. Thanatos’s symbol is an inverted torch. An inverted torch is just a torch that is turned upside down. An inverted torch symbolizes death. Meaning that when you turn the torch upside down the torch gets extinguished. Showing that when it extinguishes you will die. How Thanatos looked liked. Thanatos always wears a robe over his face. Also Thanatos has wings so he could fly towards the people that will die faster and retrieve faster for Hades. Thanatos was an interesting god but, he was not mentioned in that many
