Violet is one of the main characters and she isn’t exactly who we think, there is a lot more to her then we realize. Before Violet’s sister died she was a cheerleader and a member of student council, but since her sister’s death she is now student who doesn’t have any motivation to do work, and she also is an incredible writer who finds writing on her blog a chore. Above all Violet was lucky enough to be a survivor in the awful crash that killed her sister, but she instead is always thinking about killing herself. Violet seems to have a changed view on life, and not for the good. She still goes to school everyday like everyone else, trying to make her way through. Violet had created a wall for herself and wouldn’t let anyone in, Finch was the one person who helped her knock down that wall. It wasn’t all easy for Finch he had to pressure Violet to do things she never would have done again like get in a car and take notes for their project, which helped her get back on her feet and start writing again. All these things are simple but were barriers for her and were stopping her from living. By the end of the novel Violet finally decides that nothing will stop her and decides that she needs to live a little. Violet even decided to start writing on her and her sister’s blog again even if her sister’s presence is gone. With Finch’s terrible tragedy in the end, Violet surprises us in how she dealt with Finch's sudden suicide and showed us the big emotional leaps she made throughout the book. She finds healthy outlets for her grieving and sadness, like continuing to work on her blog where she can channel her feelings through words, and even hanging out with her old
