A difference in self-identity often causes conflict between individuals. Head cook at weddings and Funerals by Vi Plotnikoff demonstrates how differences in beliefs, values, future plans and different opinions can cause conflict between a family, community or individuals. Beliefs and values often differ between people, just as Marusa and Aunt Florence. Murusa is considered a perfect girl, she came from a profoundly traditional Doukhobor family. Marisa 's mother, Aunt Florence was a fairly traditional as well as having strong ties to the Doukhobor community.
Conflict is when a character in a piece of literature faces something that opposes their desires and needs. In the selections, The Boston Girl, and Sybil Ludington’s Ride, the main characters struggle against their parents for their wellbeing. The girls, Addie and Sybil, feel like they can do more than what others say, but their parents feel it is dangerous and do not believe in them. The protagonists do what they believe in and have to face their parents and prove them wrong. Due to the parents concerning about their children, the main characters have to prove themselves worthy of the tasks at hand, allowing the conflict to erupt, man versus man.
Dr. Meyers, Hello! I hope your Thanksgiving was rejuvenating and enjoyable with family and friends. This is Angelia (Angel) Hirsch from the summer practicum course through Liberty University. I am not certain what happened over the week of Thanksgiving, but our house (which is a 125 year-old historical home, really a niche market, not many want to deal with the special things that come along with the age and up keep) suddenly went into high demand and we had numerous offers come in on Wednesday!
As humans, we each face conflict in our everyday lives. Conflict is basically anything that happens that a person may disagree with, or not be happy with. Conflict could be something as little as losing your pencil, or something as horrible as the holocaust. For example, Anne Frank was forced into hiding at the age of 13. There was nothing that she could do about it, so she kept her thoughts on the positive side by writing in her diary once or twice a month, and hoping for the best.
Nate Alwood, 1 12-4-14 Thanksgiving writing An Awesome Break My Thanksgiving break was really fun. I was very busy. First I will tell you about an awesome time I had at my Aunt and Uncles. Claire, having cooked feverishly and diligently for, what seemed like, to her, a better part of a fortnight, finally took off her apron, untied her hair, and changed into her night gown. It had been a full twelve hours of preparation; and her first assignment as “lady” of the house. Few understand the intricacies of Thanksgiving day as well as the Rutherfords do. Furthermore, the Rutherfords, being known throughout the county as aristocrats, never fail to entertain an annual “Thanksgiving Ball”-which usually includes only the highest ranking magistrates and
Her entire family has come for celebrating the Thanksgiving dinner. I met her Dad, her Mom, and her two sisters. One of her sisters is married and her husband’s side of the family had come for the dinner too. It certainly was a festive climate at the house.
Hope and pray everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with Family and Friends. It was just the three of us this year. I (with the help of my son Jerrid) cooked a ham, turkey (breast), dressing, pea salad, potato salad, rolls, cranberry sauce, and pecan pie. It was so good. I had planned to also have green bean casserole but ran out of steam.

As studied by Janet Siskind, the American Thanksgiving celebration is actually a very detailed ritual that contains many symbols. Similar to other rituals, the holiday reinforces certain social structures and “…reaffirms values and assumptions about cultural and social unity, about identity and history, about inclusion and exclusion” (168). The Thanksgiving ritual is centered around a return home, as people traveled from their urban homes back to their rural home to meet with their larger family. As a result, “the household became the site of ritual performance…” (175). The goal of the Thanksgiving ritual was to reaffirm the family and renew traditional ties, especially as more people had started moving into the cities around the time that the holiday became popular in the United States (176).

A while ago my future uncle, Randy, attended Thanksgiving with his friend, also my uncle, David. At the time my uncle was a young twenty year old who was rather blunt and lacked a great deal of compassion. He had no family and whenever he asked a question and said ‘I’m asking for a friend’ everyone would be like ‘Liar! You have no friends” save my Uncle David who was his friend and was bring him to Thanksgiving. While walking through the doors they were greeted by my grandparents and my aunt, Geraldine.

I hope you had a wonderful thanksgiving. I am following up with you regarding the extra class I am being charged for. I have contacted Diana Carroll via email and telephone and have received a response. I received a final notice from Vice President for Business Affairs, Doretha Spells in which she states that if I do not pay the $3,000 I will be denied in taking my final examinations for this semester. I will personally go to the Graduate College to hand in the paper where it states that I only paid for 4 credits and not 7.
