“That Don’t Sound Like You” is written by Rhett Akins, Ashley Gorley and Lee Brice, who is also the performer. This song was written and recorded in 2014 and released in 2015. Throughout grade school, Lee Brice was very close friends with a female classmate. After graduating they parted ways. Brice and his friend ended up meeting again one day and everything was different. A girl who once was a southern bell was transformed to a dull, lifeless person. She had met someone who changed her into a completely different person. Brice’s intended audience seem to be the girl first and foremost, but also young and older adults, those who have been through similar experiences. This twangy, casual country song is told with a forthright tone. The casual language of the song helps the audience understand the storyline much easier. The song is southern, so using words such as “drawl” and “gravel road” assist the listeners in thinking like the singer. The flow of the story is also easy to follow and explains the theme of new people causing change in one person.
