The 1960s Was A More Challenging Time Period Than Modern Day
Is it more challenging living in modern day or in the 1960s? Would you rather live now or in the past? This topic has been talked about by many people. Between the 1960s and modern day, they have changed significantly. There have been a number of positives and negatives that occurred in both time periods. These time periods were full of major challenges. Critics argue that modern day is more challenging than the 1960s but many more believe that is false. Women were excluded from educational programs, schools activities, and everything else that was federally funded”(Falcon 18). What this explains is that men had lots of advantages over women. Women didn’t have things like education which meant they were not able to get jobs. Women were just left out of everything.
A third major challenging event during the 1960s was anti war vietnam riots. In the 1960s crashcourse it says “ Anti war demonstrators as well as some counter culture types arrived in large numbers at the 1960 democratic convention in Chicago where they were set upon by police and beaten in what was later described as a police riot(Crashcourse). What this means is that anti war riots were supposed to get the attention of the government to stop the war but ended up with violence. We had citizens in our country fighting each other while our soldiers were fighting for another country’s freedom. Many people believe that the modern day era held more challenges than the 1960s era. However many more disagree. The 1960s were so much more challenging due to lack of technology. In source two it states “In the 1960s there was not as much technology”(Falcon 18).
