The 1980s was a decade of fashion! It is all about being bold and expressive. It was a time where people weren't afraid to try new things and to make a statement with their outfits, making it not about what you are wearing, but about how you are wearing your clothes. Society was influenced and changed from the 70s to the 80s. From clothing with bright colors and big hair to shoulder pads and leg warmers. People were wearing track suits, running shoes, and leg warmers on a normal day. Not to go workout or run, just to wear. There was also a preppy look. Wearing button-ups with either jeans or khakis (History, 2018). Many of womens clothes had shoulder pads built into them, to make the women have a clean shoulder line. Making their look sharper. Women were also known to steal clothing styles from men, so the design of the shoulder pad came from men's football (Carnegy, 1990). In the 80s there were many different styles that were created by being influenced by the aspects of other genders wear or just what people saw each other wearing well being out and about. Hairstyles in the 80s made a big jump from the 70s. Hair in the 1970s was shagged, shiny with curtain bangs. There were also some afros seen in the mix of the 70s, but when it came to the 1980s it got big, literally. Women of the 1980s had big, frizzy curls.
