World War One, commonly referred to as the Great War, was the first war between many Euro-Asian countries, as well as American countries which began in June 1914 and ended in November 1918. Historians have long questioned the absolute cause for this war, having since pinpointed it on the assassination of the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, Archduke Franz Furdinand. The Austro-Hungarian government blamed the death of the archduke on Serbian secret society known as the Black Hand. At this time, there was a nationalist movement in Serbia which caused their government to become unstable. Countries began to become influenced by the assassination and the declaration of war on Serbia in 1914. A few days after the declaration of war between Serbia
