The Adoration of the Shepherds The Adoration of the Shepherd’s is a colorful and emotional painting for someone that is religious. The painting is El Greco’s one of his most colorful works, and was done with his own hands, without the help of his son Jorge Manuel. “Light radiates from the child and the dazzling white cloth on which He lies, illuminating the figures of Mary and the amazing shepherds.” (Web Gallery of Art) This painting is one of Greco’s best and one of his last paintings before he died. El Greco was born in 1541 as Domenikos Theotokopoulos to his father Gorgios, and his Greek mother that is still somewhat unknown today. In his childhood he showed huge interest and talent in the field of art, and w excited about taking training as an icon painter and studying the cultures of Ancient Greece and Latin traditions and cultures in a Cretan School. After three years in 1566, Greco officially signed his name as “Master Menegos Theotokopoulos, painter.” Greco was very detailed in his work and made all of his work realistic and beautiful. The light enhanced Jesus Christ and Mary. The light also made sure it was shown on the Angels above witnessing the birth of Jesus Christ. They all had the look on their faces of an aww. They are all so grateful of being able to see the birth and the miracle of Jesus Christ. El Greco made sure to focus on Jesus Christ and the angels. The shepherds are not really the focus of the painting, they are not detailed like Jesus and the angel are. To me all of his painting were inspiring because they are all religious. I was also drawn to his painting of Jesus Healing the Blind, it is wonderful and colorful also. I was moved by how Jesus was healing the blind and the look on the other people faces of
