The American Dream was sketched within the Declaration of Independence; “all men are created equal” with the right to “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness”. These phrases began to conclude that life should be richer and fuller for all Americans. The formal five standards in The American Dream include; democracy, rights, liberty, opportunity, and equality. In the present-day, the modern and simplified American Dream for an average person consists of; having a basic education, attending college, finding a job, raising a family, supporting that family, saving money for retirement, and assisting the next generation. However, more things must be done to strive for equal opportunity, success, and ultimately a better life for all.

Over time, the American Dream has changed drastically. It used to be working harder to earn a better place in life. It was working hard order to earn a better place in life, as it should be. However, in today 's society for most Americans the Dream is earning that higher place in life while hardly working to truly achieve it. The American Dream seems to have different interpretations in the different types of people, for Americans, they believe in earning a lot while not working hard for it, for many immigrants, they still believe in working for what they desire.

The current event that I feel affects today 's American Dream is high priced homes on the Market. I think that this is affecting the American Dream because infiltration of the house prices skyrocketing. The price of homes is so high because of the law of supply and demand, and the economy in San Diego. Houses being this high in price is forcing people to downgrade and live in a different neighborhoods. I think we can all agree part of the American Dream is to own your own home.

For numerous reasons, I don’t believe that America still provides access to the American Dream because the American Dream is for everyone to be successful and fortunate, and since everything is so pricey and some people are just not fit for it, it is hard to be successful. Some people may agree because they feel that America still provides access to the American Dream. However, I do believe that if it gave access enormously of us would be wealthier. Also, we would probably be living better. Therefore, I will challenge this claim that America provides access to the American Dream.

The American Dream was created to give everyone equal opportunity, and it encouraged people to believe in the freedom that they should so rightfully receive. Since then Americans have had the goal of living a happy and comfortable life (Hartmann). The American Dream is one of the main things that bring people from all over into our country. As first the American Dream was that everyone would be provided access to anything they needed for anyone that needed it, nowadays it’s flawed it has gotten to the point where it’s not obtainable.
During his first state of the union address, Donald Trump said, "There has never been a better time to start living the American Dream. So, to every citizen watching at home tonight, no matter where you have been, or where you 've come from, this is your time. If you work hard, if you believe in yourself, if you believe in America, then you can dream anything, you can be anything, and together, we can achieve absolutely anything (Trump 2018). " His assessment is correct in every way because every American citizen has unlimited access to what he or she needs to fulfill their American dream if they work hard at it. The most common and typical American Dream is the dream of being super successful and wealthy. It’s been a common belief for many years that when you come to America you can get rich very easily and do anything you want. Even though most people have a lot better opportunities in America then their home countries, getting rich and famous is still pretty challenging for most people. Their are a few people that actually became rich and famous from coming to America, but its very few compared to those who don’t become rich and famous. Most people who come to the U.S. do not become rich but they do become more wealthy then they were in their home countries because of how poor some of the other countries are compared to America.
