The American Dream
Years ago, the united states of america was the prime example of prosperity and opportunity, hence developing the “american dream”. A dream where everyone has an equal chance to achieve their goals, success and prosperity through hard work, determination, and initiative. It was an idea that was once commonly accepted ideology in this country, but now many believe that the “american dream” is no longer attainable by all.
Over the course of many years the “american dream” has changed. It is believed that the “american dream” started around the time america was settled. Through the declaration of independance in the expression of a sense of hope, “... all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.” These words alone were able to shape the “american dream” in what had many hoping to achieve it. During the 1920’s the “american dream” transitioned from being all about hope to being all about money. Because i feel that America has a way of grasping one's dream, it is able to allow others to have a sense of hope that accomplishing your dreams is possible. Whereas in other countries many things such as religion, laws, or even the people around them forbid them from doing what they want, and that makes it harder for them to accomplish their dreams. In a sense where America has a lot of opportunity for others to be able to choose who they want to be and aren’t bound by the set of rules that forbid them. Which is why many consider America a land of opportunity and though my views may be different from others view of the “american dream”, in a way they are all bound by the pursuit of happiness, and that really is what makes us all the
