American Revolution The American Revolution, also known as the U.S. War of Independence, was a conflict that arose burgeoning between the Colonists and the British. Before the Revolution evoked, the British occupied what is now the current day east coast and the majority of current day Canada. The revolution was a series of battles and acts that lead up to the colonists acquiring the independence from Britain. The French- Indian war, which was held in North America, left Great Britain with a debt that had to be paid. Britain started passing laws on the colonist in order to get money to pay off the debt. The Colonist did not agree with this. The Revolution Started off with the Stamp Act Congress in 1765 and ended with the Battle of Yorktown
