The aim of this essay is to describe the different paths within the Animation Industry and to provide insight into the roles and responsibilities that I could pursue in my future career.
Within the Animation Industry, the production of a film goes through three processes. These process systems are referred to as; pre-production, production and post-production. Pre-production is the beginning on where the Concept artist develops an idea which is passed onto the Creative Director who will combine more than one idea. This is then transformed into a visual narrative, outlined in rough sketches which are in chronological order-called storyboarding. These frames are arranged in such a way to create movement, this movement is an illusion known as animation. Animators are required to have a strong drawing ability as well as being capable and familiar with technical equipment and software. An animator can apply those skills to many careers within the industry for example; storyboarding, character designer or even an architectural visualisation artist. With the modernisation of the traditional two-dimensional and three-dimensional animation there has been an increase in supportive positions that are essential in creating most of the animation seen today. Animators need to bring movement to constructed models that appropriate to the characters or phenomenon description and function.
Within the Animation Industry, I visualise myself in two particular fields of specialisation being Rigging or a Cloth Stimulation Artist. The role of a Rigging artist is to create an essential bone structure for the model at hand. This skeletal structure is joined to certain control points allowing the animators to manipulate the characters movements. Rigging would essentially allow me to create the life-like characteristics that are unique to the model, such as; unique movements of the body, facial expressions, that would help create a more realistic
