The Aristotelian view is having a protagonist who experiences a tragic flaw, this tragic flaw must earn the relatability with its audience. This movie is relatable to the audience, has a protagonist that experiences a journey and has a tragic flaw, making it a perfect example of Aristotle’s principles. The movie The Duff is indeed literature that experiences this Aristotelian view. In The Duff Bianca Piper identifies with the audience as a protagonist who truly experiences hubris. To begin, Bianca Piper, in The Duff, relates to the audience indefinitely. Every aspect of her awkward appearance and strange behaviors can somewhat relate to many high school kids today. The journey that Bianca experiences is one of finding her own personality. At first it begins as she is trying to change her personality and style so she can date a boy. Later on, her unexpected friend, Wesley Rush, helps her to realize that being yourself is most important and that labels don’t mean a thing. In The Duff Bianca is bullied, a preppy movie star wannabe makes her life miserable, this girl is Madison Morgan, everyone has to face one someday. Madison Morgan took embarrassing video of Bianca and posted it to the internet, everyone at her school saw it and the video really ruined her high school career. This type of bullying is not just a myth, it happens to kids even today. This is a very big part of her personal journey to discover herself. Bianca must first realize that other people, regardless of bullying, don’t determine what makes her who she is. In a study by Patricia Agatston, Agatston said, “A total of 148 middle and high school students were interviewed for approximately 45 minutes in length. Students were asked a series of scripted questions.
