The ability to understand different forms of knowledge as well as the ability to differentiate between the types of knowledge is very vital in day to day life. Different philosophers have discovered different types of knowledge including personal knowledge, procedural knowledge and propositional knowledge. Of the three types, propositional knowledge also known as knowledge of facts is that which many philosophers have really dwelled on. However, it is very important to have knowledge regarding the relationship between the three types of knowledge. In a philosophical point of view, the world is a huge constitution of fragments or pieces of aspects rather than a single thing (Shelley). The modern society is basically an imaginative mechanism built by binding together uncountable lifeless pieces. With regard to Schiller’s diagnosis there is an advanced division of labor which has modified the nature of humanity as well as human personality into difficult partitions which requires a person to go the rounds from one person to go rounds from person to another in order to put together the pieces to complete a whole species (Baldick173-183). Frankenstein’s life can possibly be explained in two way: first, it can be viewed as a technological prophecy and on the other hand as a human presumption that is blasphemous. In some cases however, both aspects are considered. Instead of tying Frankenstein too the issues of technology, it would make sense to think that the story to a certain extend dramatizes doubts regarding the rewards of knowledge (Baldick173-183). In the book, knowledge is presented to be double sided with its consequences and benefits depending on the intention and circumstance in which it is pursued. While there is increased knowledge that life science is developing and continually separating itself from traditional doctrines, this thought emerged from the unconscious spirit which an invisible life force manifesting itself in the form of fiery electricity (Holmes 183-194). Contemporary science has tried to reject the analogy existing between electricity in nature and life forces although the existence of the soul as well as the origin of the unconscious until the current times remains a mystery. However, if this mystery would have already been solved and also if human beings had the ability to control life forces, the question still remains to be whether human being beings would still be able to come up with life out of chaos through the animation of lifeless matter and Mary Shelley bring us to ponder on this aspect. Both science and literature are put together in the story through the aspect of life creation by a scientific genius (Holmes 183-194).
