On Thursday May 19, an Auschwitz mug that had a gold ring and necklace hidden was discovered by staff at a museum in Poland named Auschwitz-Birkenau museum. The jewelry in the mug was hidden 70 years ago by a death camp prisoner in Poland. Auschwitz is the Nazi camp in Poland that was liberated by Red Army troops in January 1945 and was where more than a million Jews were sent to their deaths. The jewelry was concealed in a thin pocket at the base of the mug with a false bottom on top. The ring and necklace were very well hidden, but due to the passage of time the materials degraded and the false bottom got separated from the mug.
