The main character Elena Gilbert just lost her parents in a tragic accident. The story takes place when she returns from Paris back to her home town Falls Church. It is the start of her senior year; she is the most popular girl in school and gets everything she wants. It’s the first day of school and then she meets this mystery man named Stefan Salvatore who just transferred to Robert E. Lee High form Italy. When Elena finally meets him he acts like he doesn’t want her because of his big secret that he is trying to hide, he’s a vampire. Tanner, but Elena knows better and is looking for him blaming Damon for his disappearance. Bonnie McCullough, Elena’s best friend who also happens to be a witch, Meredith Sulez her child hood friend and Matt Honeycutt the ex boyfriend/ child hood friend help Elena find Stefan in the bottom of a well on an abandoned farm. But after Mr. Tanner’s death they hired Alaric Saltzman is an experimental psychologist that is a freak about vampires. Caroline Forbes and Tyler Smallwood try and expose Stefan’s secret at the Founders Day Parade when they stool Elena’s dairy at a party. But their plan backfires as Damon steels the diary back and Caroline has nothing to read. Before the Parade Stefan proposes to Elena and she without a doubt said yes. After the parade her aunt Judith tells her she has to stop seeing Stefan but then Elena drops the wedding surprise and causes friction. Elena takes Matt’s car to go wait for Stefan at the boarding house where Stefan was staying but something was in the storm, something was after her. Elena went to Wickery Bridge but she ends up going off the bridge and drowns in the
