Besides, Anselm supposes that existence in reality is indeed a great-making quality. This argument is what many philosophers tend to disagree with. Most of the dissenting philosophers try to challenge stem from the basic belief that no expanse of reasonable analysis of any perception is restrained to the existence of anything in reality. Anselm’s leading opponent, Immanuel Kant, puts forward the most vaunted critique of Anselm’s argument. He believes that Anselm’s argument is wrong since existence, in reality, is not a great-making quality (Wilson,
When talking about the meaning of the color red, Taylor Swift once said, “On one end you have happiness, falling in love, infatuation with someone, passion, all that. On the other end, you've got obsession, jealousy, danger, fear, anger, and frustration.” Swift’s perception of red is true in the novella Of Mice and Men. The color is repeated throughout the book when talking about women. Lennie, a main character, is often in trouble with women in red; they each symbolize something different but the same.
Truth is often a term that is taken into consideration when one is verbally speaking, but most find it rather difficult to truly define truth. While every person can attempt to uniquely give their own interpretation to what the world regards as truth, the realm of philosophy presents several brilliants ideas about the concept. In general, the study of philosophy recognizes two truths: objective and subjective. Objective truth can be described as truth that has always existed whether one knows it or not, while subjective truth is dependent on the person’s ideas and feelings towards a reality. Influential and well-known philosophers such as Mortimer J. Adler and Plato have contributed thoughts that often present similar ideas about the definition
How to Curve a Soccer Ball One of the many ways to kick a soccer ball is a curve kick. This is a more tedious way of kicking the ball but it’s doable. Alberto Knox in Sophie’s world distinguished the difference between a sophist and true philosopher, saying that the sophist believe that the knowledge they do have is justified though they contain little knowledge, while the true philosopher’s have established that they know nothing. I personally believe there are degrees of reality. While one’s experiential reality may not be the absolute objective reality, it still contains elements of true reality within it and furthermore, embodied experience. In this context we can use our senses to obtain knowledge in this degree of reality. In regards to the purest form of reality we are limited in our capacity to determine what information is derived from there.
Immanuel Kant stated a person who is able to make conscious decision is autonomous, as
(Kant, 1996). In which, he discussed further that immaturity of the human is when they are unable to practice their understanding in the short of guidance from others. As a consequence, enlightenment comes to counter the immaturity occurs among them. However, as its go beyond, Kant proposed that public; the people of nation will be enlighten without any doubt
In contrast, Locke believes, that knowledge can only have a high degree of certainty but cannot be certain. Since he does not focus much on certainty in his works, he believes that perception can play a major part in the process of knowledge. He further reiterates that knowledge is based on observations and senses. According to his him, ideas come from reflection and sensation while knowledge is founded on experience In summary, I have covered the respective positions and views that both Locke and Descartes hold in respect with self-identity and consciousness.
Truth has a nominative definition. It means it is a combination of the knowledge of truth and what makes the truth. In other terms, we cannot know the truth if we do not know where it comes from and its reasons. At least, this is Kant’s definition .
It is the first day of volleyball class and all of the students are waiting to get started. The class begins, as the coach, I start by taking attendance, going over the rules of volleyball, then leading in to the different ways of hitting the ball. After going over the fundaments, the students would go through the game of pepper to get a feel for the game. The last part of class I would have the students play an actual game so they can get the true feeling of moving for the ball and touching the ball. Taking attendance at the beginning of every class is important to get a feel for the students who want to learn how to play volleyball and those who have no interest.
