Pixar’s Perception “The Bare Necessities” plays in the background as my three year old self sits on the couch fully engrossed in what was playing on the T.V. screen. A few years go past and by now I’m six, and quietly watching “Monster, Inc.” and all the new characters and effects going on within the movie. Over and over again between the ages of when I first started to walk all the way up until this very moment in time, I have always been a fan of Disney, PixarⓇ films. Being totally and completely thrilled and mesmerized by how well the films are put together, how smoothly they run from beginning to end, and how beautifully and carefully the characters are drawn and pieced together. This was extremely intriguing for my adolescent mind to think about and comprehend how the music playing in the background, barely even noticing that it there, can change how you feel about the act. I wanted to be a Film Score producer for great action movies like Pirates of the Caribbean, Mission Impossible, Star Wars, and Jaws. For hours upon hours on end, I sat and listened to film scores from some of the most influential movies I’ve heard about, but never actually seen, trying to determine what the scene might be about based on the music being played. I didn’t realize how hard it was to actually determine whether or not the scene was happy or sad other than being based on the major and minor chords. By now I’m approximately the age of fourteen or fifteen and I have begun exploring my ideas of how to pursue careers in being a film score composer. I then took a multimedia class as a freshman in high school that then changed my ideas, once again on my perceptions of the film industry. Since freshman year when I took that multimedia class, my whole world changed. Film has always been a part of my life
