Louie Zamperini was a rebellious and courageous man throughout the years of his life. He was a olympic runner and came in first for fastest time in high school and later went the olympics to race against other cities. He was in a POW camp for 2 years and was beaten by a mean man named Mutsuhiro Watanabe. And Louie Zamperini was born in Olean New York and later moved to Torrance California. Louie Zamperini shows two characteristic traits of rebellious and courageous throughout the book Laura Hillenbrand’s Unbroken.
Adventurous and dangerous, Louie Zamperini’s life was one that many will never forget. Louie’s childhood wasn’t very great, he would get into lots of trouble from fights and running from the police. When Louie’s brother Pete heard about everything that Louie was doing, so he decided to get Louie into running track, and soon enough Louie would win every race he was in. Then at the age of 19 he qualified for the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Louie then went into the military and then he had been captured by the Japs.
Throughout the book of Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer Miranda, the protagonist, is a complex and dynamic character. The protagonist, Miranda, perspective through the hardships through the survival of life. When being introduced to Miranda in the beginning of the book it seemed more like that Miranda was focused on the little things. For example, in the beginning of the book it told the readers that Lisa was pregnant, Miranda’s Dad’s wife, and asked Miranda to be the godmother of the unborn child. In Miranda’s journal she wrote “Whenever I want to get mad at her, or just irritated because she really can be immensely irritating, she goes and does something nice.
“It’s one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself, forgiveness. Forgive everybody” -Maya Angelou(). Louie Zamperini, the main character in the novel Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, evolves throughout the story and resolves with this idea of forgiveness. Louie faces challenges that range from his stealing tendencies as a young boy to surviving a plane crash during WWII, as well as becoming a POW.When he is rescued Louie isn’t the same man that he was before the war, but he goes through an evolution to become even better than when he started.
Other People’s Words, written by Victoria Purcell-Gates, is a captivating story about an Appalachian family who are poorly educated. Jenny, the mother, is determined to give her child, Donny the best education that he can receive, even though she cannot read. She fights for justice in Donny’s school because he is not learning and the teachers still push him to the next grade level. Purcell-Gates meets a committed Jenny, who offers tutoring to both her and Donny. This tutoring continues for over two years in which both learn basic skills.

In the book Renegades by Marissa Meyer, many things happen throughout the book that many will find interesting. This story follows two main characters, Adrian Everhart and Nova Artino/Mclain. In this world, there are these people who are prodigies with superpowers that they either inherit or are born with. There is also a Council that is made of the best superheroes or Renegades, all around the city that this book takes place in and the son of the top two Council members is Adrian Everhart with their leadership skills and the ability to make whatever he draws come to life. There are also villains in this world of heroes called the Anarchists and within these villains is the niece of the formerly ruler of Gatlon City during the Age of Anarchy.
Knowing the worst crime ever committed in this town was loitering, he wasn’t too worried about his car. Through his troubles as a child, emerged a strong-willed Olympic runner, who later became a military aviator. He was lost at sea and then captured by the Japanese as a prisoner of war. He endured years of abuse and suffering but still managed to stay true to who he was.

As a teen age boy who wants to find the secrets his girlfriend who left behind all these mysteries after her odd disappearance. It also tells about the lost gothic girl, Anna Cayne, who meets the young high-school aged narrator. Throughout the postcards, a shortwave radio, various CDs, and many other irregular interest.
In the book “Two Kinds” by Amy Tan, it’s about a little girl who is pressured by her mother to become something she doesn’t want to be. Jing- mei , the daughter, is forced to become a prodigy(child actress), by her mother, and she doesn’t want to be one. In the story, Jing- meis’ mother uses allusions such as Shirley Temple to push her into becoming a prodigy. Although at first Jing- mei is excited to become a prodigy, she later realizes its something she just doesn’t enjoy doing. Consequently, the uses of allusion in the story help Jing- mei discover to not be a prodigy and that what her mother wants for her is not always important.

In the novel, Ordinary People by Judith Guest, a family goes through the trials of trying to find normalcy after a tragedy strikes. Throughout the story you meet the Jarret family and watch as they progress through the everyday life and the challenges that come with it. Conrad Jarret is an ordinary 17-year-old boy living in Lake Forest, Illinois. Conrad is living with the burden of thinking he is at fault for his brother’s death and blaming himself for the family quandary’s. Conrad, by far, is the most interesting character for the reason that he unquestionably struggles to try to find what he defines as a “normal” life.
