Leadership at Fed Ex
Leadership at Fed Ex made it a point to treat their people with trust and respect, and give the freedom and resources they need to not only perform their jobs successfully, but at the highest levels (Hess & Cameron, 2006.) This idea of putting people first at Fed Ex, and started from the top down (Hess & Cameron, 2006.) One way they set out to accomplish this was to recognize individual employee’s strengths and skills, and finding ways to develop them for the better of the organization. This internal employee development is can be compared to the biblical idea of a shepherd-leader. Similar to the roles of leaders throughout the Bible, leadership at Fed Ex set out to lead by example and wished for employees to mirror their actions (Hess & Cameron, 2006.) This type of leadership, demonstrating the principles of caring, courage, & guidance are vital for the success of a community/ organization to live together and for the benefit of each other (Resane, 2014.)
