My perspective on the brilliant novel The Book Thief is appreciation. The main character, Liesel Meminger ,has a strong passion for words and reading. Liesel's foster family is poor and her foster father teaches her how to read. For liesel to obtain books she steals from a burning ceremony and the Mayor's library. From reading and finishing this novel made me appreciate words and books a lot more. In the book, the Hitler Youth had a book burning ceremony. When the ceremony came to an end one girl couldn't resist to find "Survivors". "Perhaps they were damp…’Survivors’. 'Three books.'" ( 119). After the ceremony Liesel wandered back to the bon-fire to try to find surviving books that didn't get burned. The more Liesel struggles to obtain books
