The Book Thief was written by Markus Zusak and was published in 2005. The story takes place during World War II, and describes the life of an orphan named Liesel Meminger, a ten to fourteen-year-old Germany. After her brother’s death Liesel arrives at the new home of her foster parents house. Throughout the stories, Liesel is exposed to teachings of the Nazi regime and struggles to live in innocence. As the Nazis began deporting jews and sending them to concentration camps, Liesel’s foster father hides a Jewish man by the name of Max. Max soon forms a close relationships with Liesel and helps her develop as a writer and reader. The writer structures the story in a very annoying way.
