The Grinch Who Stole Christmas begins in Whoville only hours before the Cheermeister Festival. Cindy Lou is questioning the materialism that surrounds Christmas, so she nominates the Grinch as this year's Cheermeister to show that Christmas is about loving one another. She convinces the Grinch to come down from his cave and join the celebration, however, the mayor shames the Grinch in front of the entire town. This causes the Grinch to destroy the Cheermeister Festival in a fit of anger. He schemes to ruin the rest Christmas by stealing all the decorations and presents in every house in Whoville.

The lights on the christmas tree shone different colors across the faces of the children as they roasted marshmallows in the fireplace. Half empty hot chocolates sat beside them. How the Grinch Stole Christmas played over the television set, not quite drowned out by the children's laughter and discussions of what presents they would be getting the next morning. The man, in this moment, couldn’t help but notice just how beautiful his wife was. The way her nose crinkled up, when she laughed with the children, the way she snuggled closer to him while watching the movie.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas”, also known as “The Grinch”, is a 2000 family-based, Christmas-themed, comedy film delivered by Universal and Imagine Entertainment and based on the 1957 children’s picture book written by Dr. Seuss of the same name. Directed by Ron Howard (who also directed “Splash”, “Rush”, and “The Dilemma”), “The Grinch” was the first full-length feature film adapted from the series of outstanding and beloved Dr. Seuss tales. Since the film was the first to be based off one of Seuss’s famous children's books, many additions had to be made to the storyline to make the film fit the era’s “standards” by bringing it up to feature-length, leaving the young and older audience intrigued, and most importantly keeping the legacy of Dr. Seuss's works intact. In addition, this included adding some vivid information about the
When the cartoon came out “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” it was a fun cartoon for kids who got to see how the Grinch finally liked Christmas. In the movie ”The Grinch” starring Jim Carey If we would watch it with adult eyes there are so many different messages which we could pass on to our children and grandchildren. This story opens up and the evil, angry green creature the Grinch is living atop Mount Crumpet all alone with his dog Max. We don’t know why and we don’t know how he came to be living there.
One movie that I enjoyed due to the production design is Avatar. The production design team did a wonderful job of illustrating what life was like on the planet, Pandora, from the creators such as the dragons and the planet life. The designs that I really enjoyed were the scenes displaying the Tree of Souls. Another film with wonderful production designs is Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
Fairytales often show characters losing their way before they can be triumphant. This motif is not lost within these stories, The Mosue and his Child, Charlotte’s web, A Christmas Carol, as our main characters must face several trials to succeed. Within each story, these characters have a certain test that influences their overall success more than others. Within The Mouse and his Child, I think their greatest trial was at the Caws of Art performance.
The book I chose to read for my report was SuperFudge by Judy Bloom. It is a fiction book, which brings you into a life of a family that struggles with moving their children into a new town. Jealousy, anger, and resentment consume the sibling’s lives as they learn to live in a new home, make new friends, and go to a new school. The story begins in a small apartment in New York City where Peter, Fudge and his parents lived.
A Christmas Carol is a very popular and famous story. It is about a man who hates almost everything and then when he is shown his whole life and how it will end he decides to change his life for the better. It is really intriguing when one goes in depth into the story. That is what I will be telling people about today.
The altruistic decisions that are made in one’s life, although not profitable, have the ability to enhance life with joy, as it benefits everyone. In the play, "A Christmas Carol", adapted b Dennis Garnham, we witness the dynamic character, Scrooge, undergo a purgation of his former stingy attitude, as he realizes that, by partaking in acts of charity, he can not only cause himself some good but also benefit others as well. When visited my his nephew, Scrooge makes a point to not help the needy around him, because it did not increase his overall income. His nephew counters this remark, saying, “There are many things from which I might have derived good, by which I have not profited... And therefore, uncle, though it has never put a scrap of

Families being torn apart, being ripped from everything they’ve known growing up and being isolated within a camp where no one truly knows what’s happening to them. That’s what was going on in the life of the Jews during WWII, they were being treated as if they were no longer human, being tossed in concentration camps and given just a number to identify them, completely taking away their self importance. The atrocities that occurred during the Holocaust are being subtly portrayed in the movie “The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas,”directed by Mark Herman, a story told from the eyes of an eight year old boy named Bruno and his unlikely friendship with a Jewish boy named Shmuel. The movie tells the story of how a young boy begins to realize what kind of solder his father truly is and what is going on during WWII as his parents had kept him enclosed in this idea that all is well in the world. Through the use of imagery, colors, and pathos Mark Herman successfully portrays the horrors of the Holocaust through the innocent and peculiar friendship of two nine year old boys, Bruno and Shmuel.
Good morning/afternoon Mr. Webster and Year 8 Mahoney, Community can be defined as a group of people living in a particular area that share the same belief, culture, and or rituals. The term community is evident in the novel, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, and can be related to a personal experience. Furthermore, I will be expressing my thoughts of community whilst linking it to a specific part of the novel, showing why and how I connect, and finally reflecting on myself and the community. Becoming part of a new community is evident when Bruno moves to a new house in “Auschwitz” leaving friends and family behind at Berlin. Bruno is part of the Nazi community in a Jewish concentration camp however Bruno is not really aware of this.
There are ones to rely on, who will have people’s backs through thick and thin, and display humanity in every step. The dictionary states, “Humanity is the quality or condition of being human or humane” (“Humanity”). This means people are humans because of the way they react to certain situations. For instance, humans have feelings and characteristics such as compassion, sympathy, consideration, and kindness. People’s feelings toward others mark them apart from all other animals.
