John Boyne is a very well-known author who has earned a lot of respect over the years. The Boy in The Striped Pajamas is a book about a German boy named Bruno whose dad was Nazi general. In The Boy at The Top of The Mountain Pierrot is a French boy who was adopted by Adolf Hitler. In the books, the characters, themes, conflicts, and settings are all similar. The author shows that the similar similar storylines of both books set the general tone for the two stories. “I’m going to run away then.” Bruno(the main character in The Boy in The Striped Pajamas) is showing that he’s not putting up with this anymore.”Over the mountains and into the unseen world beyond” Perriot(The main character in The Boy at The Top Of The Mountain)wants to break free and just go where people aren't and where he can be free. The theme of The Boy at The Top of The Mountain is to face your fears and solve your own problems. “Something must be done. Not for just him, but for all the Pierrot’s out there.” He’s stating that there are other people out there who need the same help Perriot does. In The Boy In The Striped Pajamas, Bruno states “There was one part of him that remembered that he loved his old life. Brun is regretting his decisions because he is wanting his old life back. In both stories, Bruno and Pierrot have many regrets and wished they could go back to the way things use to
