You only read what Bruno’s thoughts are. The thoughts of other characters are not told. Sometimes you read what Bruno thinks but afterwards you read something that he could not now at all. So that is a little confusing.

explanation of the title:
Bruno sees on the other side of the fence a young boy sitting with a striped pyjama. Shmuel wore the same striped pyjamas as all the other people on that side of the fence. Shmuel isn 't the only boy who wears striped pyjamas, Bruno puts them on in the end too. I think he is the boy in striped pyjamas the title refers to.

Opinion about the book: I found it a very beautiful book. The subject is also very intense and it gives a different view of the World War 2. Most books are about the Jewish people during the World War 2, but this story is about a boy living in a world that support the thoughts of Hitler. I also really liked that the book was written from the perspective of a nine-year-old. It is written like a diary and it looks like you really in Bruno’s life. I really understood his annoyance to Gretel.

Would I recommend the book?

I highly recommend it to anyone who loves war stories. It is a suitable book for especially teenagers and adults. For little children who want to read the book I think they will probably not understand the deeper layers in the
