Imagine being in your home watching tv or reading a book a suddenly the ground starts to shake and you hear bombs explode, then you hear people outside screaming and gunshots, then men with guns come in and shoot your family and take you to prison. If you live in Afghan this nightmare could be a reality. And this was parvana's reality, all of this was happening in the world around her. Parvana is an eleven-year-old Afghani girl living with her family in the small town of Kabul. Parvana's life was pretty normal until one day when men with guns came in and beat her, her mother and father and took him to prison. This changed the lives of their family forever. On top of it, being born as a girl in a country where girls are disgraced. Many people who live in first world countries, may think that being a girl isn't that bad. Here, girls have as many rights as any man. However, in Afghanistan, where Parvana lives, many women are beaten or ridiculed because they were not born the gender that the families would have preferred. Beating women has become disgusting. Poverty is a key part of their lives, many people like Parvana and her family have become a penurious family. Meaning that she is very poor, with no male escort, She chooses to go to the market and provide for her family, she could be beaten, despite that, she has no choice in the matter. Although she knows she’s risking her life, Parvana also realizes that her family depends on her. Many females of any age have to encounter this, having no male figure suitable to play the role of an escort, they are left with very little
