Have you ever wondered why the nerd always wins against the bully in movies? This is because the person being bullied thinks more than the bully. In the story “The Cyclops”, Odysseus is a Achaean that belongs the Atreus’s son, Agamemnon, that get stuck in a cavern Polyphemus appears to be a giant that lives in the cavern. He thinks he’s more superior than others because he’s bigger than others but doesn’t care about how smart his opponent is. From this information, Polyphemus is someone who doesn’t think very much while Odysseus is the total opposite. Polyphemus dishonors the gods by thinking cyclopes are mightier than them. This sentence shows how he doesn’t care for the gods. It also shows that he doesn’t care for Odysseus smarts. Odysseus comes up with a plan to get him and his men out of the cavern. He thinks of stabbing the cyclops in the liver but then rethinks his choice. This was a good idea because in paragraph 7 it states “But on second thoughts I refrained, realizing that we would seal our own fate as well as his, because we would have found it impossible with our unaided hands to push aside the huge rock with which he had closed the great mouth of the cave.”. This was a good idea because in paragraph 20 it states “These I quietly lashes together with the plaited willow twigs which the inhuman monster used for his bed. I took them in threes.
