The Call of the Wild, written by author Jack London, tells the story of of a sled dog named Buck and his adventures in Yukon. It also describes how dogs use to be transportation for people. The book is an adventure book and is classified as fiction. The book also shows the reader the friendship, pride, and dignity that dogs possess.

The main point of view is how a dog named Buck who was stolen off his home on a California ranch survived in the wild. Buck was born a pet, but then he had to learn how to adapt in the wild. Buck had to pull a sled in the snow and at first he did not know what snow was. Buck also had to learn how to keep warm and get food. This makes it seem like Buck had never been in the wild.
