In the stories “The Man Who Never Lied” and “The Captain’s Party” the characters similar traits and events impact the story and convey the theme that if a person is honest he or she gets respect. One way that the king was honest was when he said “the man didn’t lie “. The king was telling the queen that the girl was lying. The story was the man who thought he never lied. Some admired the man’s truthfulness. The king was really trying to get a lie out of the man but the man was to wise. In the other story the boy Caleb was a boy that was to him. So Toby was trying to catch Caleb in a lie. Caleb had invited everybody to the party having them think everything was going to be great. The thing about both characters was they were both honest
