On July 20, 2013, Cody Johnson, age 25 was found dead at the bottom of a cliff in Glacier National Park in Montana. Johnson’s body was recovered 72 hours after he went missing. District Judge Donald Molloy sentenced Graham to 365 months in federal prison without the possibility of parole for her involvement to second-degree murder. The sentence was also combined with 5 years of supervised release. While incarcerated, Graham is not allowed to directly or indirectly profit from giving information regarding the murder, clarified Molloy. On top of that, Graham was required to undergo mental health treatment, pay almost $17,000 in restitution to lessen the cost of recovering her husband’s body, and pay a $100 special examination fee. After sitting through several pretrial court proceedings, Molloy noticed that Graham is extremely strange and that she gave ridiculous explanations for her actions. He said, “She was a normal person, at least on the surface. But how does a normal person then kill her husband of eight days—-and then lie and mislead law enforcement?” Molloy made it clear that the only people who really knew what happened that night were Jordan Graham and Cody Johnson. Obviously Graham is the only person who is able to speak, but Molloy believed that she was not being completely honest with those who have spoken to her, “I don't think she's been entirely truthful in anything she's said.”A few months after meeting with Molloy, a grand jury charged Graham with first and second degree murder and gave her a third charge on top of those for making false statements. Jordan Graham pled guilty to second degree murder in order to fulfill her part of a plea bargain after being on trial for four days in the month of December. Graham’s plea had Molloy in a position to decide a deserving sentence. Prosecutors wanted life in prison. On the contrary, defense attorneys wanted 10 years along with 5 years of supervised released. Obviously, the defense attorneys want a minimal sentence for Graham, however, the evidence is not in favor of Graham and the type of crime she is responsible for is very, very, serious.
