In 1763, the Treaty of Paris was signed ending the French and Indian war. The treaty made France lose all of their land in North America. England won the war and got all of the french territory east of the Mississippi. France lost a lot of power in this war but they were not the only ones, the native americans who sided with the french in the war also lost the rights to a lot of their land. Pontiac's Rebellion of 1763 consisted of the Ottawa fighting white settlers in the Ohio River Valley. The Ottawa felt cheated by the outcome of the Seven Years War because they had sided with the french and therefore lost much of their land. The currency act bans colonial money prining and forced them to pay debts in silver and gold. Then there was the sugar act of 1764 which made triangle trade illegal. The next act was the quartering act of 1765 which made colonists house and feed british soldiers and in turn the soldiers would moniter the settlers. Another famous one was the tea act that caused the boston tea party in 1773. All of these acts were disputed by the colonies and then had to be repealed because of the colonists rebelling. The act of the most importance to the revolutionary pursuit had to be the stamp act of 1765 because it was permanent and taxed all the paper products in the colonies. This was definitely the last straw for many because they saw it as "taxation without representation" and erroding their freedoms and if England got away with this then they could bring the colonists into total submission. Also from the colonist's point of view, if they had no say in their government why should they obey it? For the british these acts only helped to cover costs from the Seven Years War (which was seen as the fault of the colonies, so it was their responsibility to pay) and they were not necessarily meant to strategize domination. This unfair taxation made settlers focus their resentment on royal tax collectors, many were victims of tarring and feathering which was meant to embarrass them.
