Introduction
Hurricane Harvey and Katrina were two Hurricanes that left great destruction in their path. They both caused different amounts of damage to the places that they touched upon. There was also a great loss of life associated with these two hurricanes. As well as a great amount of property damage. They also caused other things to occur in the cities that they impacted such as people looting often out of necessity as well as showing such problems as infrastructure issues. As well as showing how ineffective the Government could be at times. In the Wake of the destruction there are also different ways that Government and Non-Government agencies responded to the disaster.
Formation of Hurricane Katrina
Hurricane Katrina Started as a Tropical Wave of the west coast of Africa on August 11th. Eight days later that Tropical Wave made its way to the Leeward Islands and produced large showers and thunderstorms north of Puerto Rico. On August 22nd the Tropical Predication System began analyzing the system and by the 24th it was named Tropical Storm Katrina since it began to form a well-defined band around the north side of the center of circulation. It was up to speeds of 70 mile per hour as it gradually turned into hurricane status. It made a landfall in Florida as a category one since it had sustained winds of 70 knots.
