“Comrades! You do not imagine, I hope, that we pigs are doing this in selfishness and privilege.” Squealer is trying to tell the animals that the pigs are sacrificing themselves by eating apples and drinking milk in order to manage the farm in the Animal Farm. Animal Farm is a fictional novella that exposes the flaws in Communism in Russia. There were two revolutions that happened in Russia in 1917. The first revolution defeated the Russian Monarchy, and second established the first communist state. Born on June 25, 1903, George Orwell, the author of Animal Farm, was a former socialist, but he realizes the tragedy that was happening in the Soviet Union. Orwell exposed the human tendency to oppress others and greed in human nature that corrupts one 's mind. In Animal Farm, the signals of corruption starts early by taking control of the food supply, then the pigs start sleeping in beds, and walking on their legs.

Their excuse for sleeping in beds was that the pigs need comfortable place in order to think clearly and serve the greater good of the farm. As squealer explain, it is important for pigs to sleep in comfortable beds because they need rest to do all the “brainwork” needed to run the Animal Farm. Later on, the pigs justify their actions by saying the rules are against sheets made by humans and not the beds.The pigs are acting like humans themselves and establishing themselves above other animals.They reminded everyone that they were the mastermind of the revolution that overthrew Mr. Jones. At first, it was that “All animals are equal,” but now it was clear that they were some that were more equal than others.
