I think that the acts that the British imposed were unfair of them because they abused their power and military to earn more revenue to pay off in the war with the British and the French. The first act was the Sugar Act; this act placed a tax on sugar or anything that has to be shipped through someone. The Currency Act put early Americans into and depression when they were having some much prosperity and making money as well. Putting these people under a depression was wrong because it would only spark more revolts in the long game. The Quartering Act was to place supplies and materials for the British army to be stationed at to watch over the Colonies.
Social Issue-Vietnam War Cost of Vietnam The Vietnam War that took place between the dates of 1959-1975 changed Americans culture. 58, 000 Americans died America spent 111 billion dollars on the war, according to the Department of Defense. Mr. Frenchy watched his brother, cousins, and acquaintances join the war efforts against communism. Likewise, he participated by joining the army. Not only did this give Mr. Frenchy a reason for leaving New York, but this also posed as an opportunity to stop selling and using drugs.
“There is at the outset a very obvious... connection between the war in Vietnam and the struggle I and others have been waging in America,”(Document E: Martin Luther King, Jr.). During the period of the Vietnam War, division struck the United States due to people’s vast opinions, this caused a rift in the country and began protests. Citizens of the USA did have legitimate reasons to protest the Vietnam War, but not all agreed with that. American citizens had many different reasons to protest the Vietnam War, but the biggest reason was that people were realizing how horrific wars truly were.
On November 1st, 1955, a country divided into two, North and South Vietnam will soon have a war known to many countries around the world. The Vietnam War, or the Second Indochina War occurred in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. At the time, Vietnam had a dispute on what the country should be, Communistic or Republic, which had led war breaking out. North as the Viet Cong group while the Republic Of Vietnam group was South; eventually unexpected events started to unfold, leading towards the end of the war. To this very day, The Vietnam War has changed the ways how many civilians live their lives, especially my family.
The Vietnam war began on November 1, 1955 being so sudden a draft began, this is when there is a major crisis and extra troops are needed for combat. The way the men were picked to go to war was a lottery was implemented, there was no system in place to determine order of call besides the fact that men between the ages of 18 and 26 were most likely to be drafted. Millions of men were forced to put their lives on hold and fight for their country if they liked it or not. Even though many consider the draft to be unconstitutional there were positive effects. Equality began to spread extensively over those years, since people were forced to get to know one another they started to understand that they're all the same.
For instant, if I was a Republican this would be a great opportunity to lead in an election. Since most of the people voting Democrat, will possibly be turned away because they were unable to provide the required documentation by law. However, if I was Democrat, this could be considered a hindrance for my supports to vote. I really don’t see the equality of how an individual can be allowed to vote by absentee vote if they are not on active military duty. For instance, college students, who are permitted to vote absentee.
Letting a new age group vote will help show the diversity that is among them. In the article Shin writes about how “some opponents said that young people barely old enough to drive a car don’t have enough perspective to vote.” This argument is valid because it is true that many young voters don’t have the experience to vote. It can still be undone by the fact that only informed individuals are willing to vote at such a young age. This is done through the fact that many young voters were prompted by this new right, to go out and seek the information needed to be well informed
If the age was lowered to vote, i think many kids would take advantage of their
Evil Humanity “Human nature is evil, and goodness is caused by intentional activity” (Xun Zi). In this quote the Chinese philosopher, Xun Zi, is stating how naturally our human nature is to be evil. It is only when we think about being good, do we do it. In the novel The Lord of the Flies, Golding implies that human nature is inherently evil which is an overall fair assessment of human nature as there have been many instances throughout history and stories that support this idea.
If people are required to vote without why they would vote, they would do it, but only because they have to, meaning they will not care who they vote for. Because of this, it is useless
The Vietnam War was a war the United States should have never been involved in. The “Domino Theory” was a direct cause of the war. The war resulted in much death; innocent civilians and young Americans were killed. The Vietnam war also resulted in rioting, distrust for the United States government, and the loss of many lives. 58,000 Americans were killed and 300,000 were wounded.
These are heavy obligations with their own challenges that adults have no problem taking on, so why shouldn’t the younger citizens that are undertaking these responsibilities be able to vote? If they are thought to be responsible enough
We need votes from people that understand everything about the election. There is no contest in voting ranks with other countries. I feel there is no trust in letting 16 year olds vote when they have no interest or knowledge to make a smart
Everyone has the right to vote, but many don’t take that opportunity. In the article “Should Voting Be Mandatory?” Eric Liu tells us that “mandatory voting would prompt more Americans to pay attention to the choices;” people usually never pay attention to their choices, and then complain about it later when everything has already happened. (Par 5). Mandatory voting means that every citizen of the age of 18 and above that has a right to vote must vote.
